Construction Site Security

Construction security is a different discipline to protecting a finished building, because the thing you are protecting will not hold still. The boundary moves, the compound relocates, power is temporary or absent, and the highest value items on site change from copper and cable early on to plant, then to fit out materials and appliances near the end.

Theft from sites is persistent and organised. Tools, plant, cable, catalytic converters, fuel and increasingly the packaged kitchens and white goods sitting in a nearly finished block are all targeted, and the losses rarely stop at the replacement cost. Delay to the programme, plant hire standing charges and the knock on to following trades usually cost more than the stolen item.

The practical answer is a system that can be redeployed. Battery and solar powered towers, wireless detection and cameras that connect over mobile networks avoid depending on infrastructure that does not exist yet, and can be moved as the site evolves rather than being cut out and reinstalled each time.

We work on construction sites in two capacities. We provide temporary security to protect the site during the build, and we deliver the permanent fire and security package that gets installed into the finished building. Plenty of principal contractors use us for both, which means one supplier who already knows the site, the programme and the people by the time second fix arrives.
