Warehousing & Industrial

Industrial Security Systems

Perimeter detection, yard CCTV, fire systems and access control for warehousing, distribution and manufacturing across London.

The Requirement

Protecting The Boundary

Industrial premises are the one commercial sector where you generally have a real perimeter to work with: a fence line, a yard, a gate and a distance between the boundary and the building. That is an advantage, because it lets you detect an intrusion while it is still outside rather than once someone is already among the racking.

The building itself is harder than an office. Large single span spaces defeat detectors specified for rooms, high bay racking blocks camera views and detector coverage as stock moves, roller shutters and cladding offer limited physical resistance, and the roof is often the weakest point on the whole envelope. Vehicle assisted intrusion, where a van is used to pull a shutter, is a real pattern rather than a theoretical one.

Operationally, most sites run shifts. A system that can only be fully set or fully unset is useless where nights are working and days are not. Zoning and part setting have to reflect the actual working pattern, including how drivers, agency staff and out of hours deliveries get in and out.

Recommended Stack

Typical Specification

Perimeter Detection

Beam and external detection along the boundary and across the yard, backed by internal detection so a breach is caught early rather than at the racking.

Yard & Loading CCTV

Cameras with genuine low light performance covering gates, yard, loading bays and trailer parking, with ANPR at the gate where vehicle records matter.

Fire Detection

Systems designed for high bay and large volume spaces, taking account of racking layout, stored materials and the limits of standard point detection at height.

Shift Aware Setting

Zoning and part setting that matches shift patterns, plus controlled access for drivers and deliveries without unsetting the whole building.

Insurance

Stock Value Drives The Spec

Warehousing insurers tend to be specific, and stock value drives the requirement more than floor area does. High value, portable and easily resold goods attract higher grade requirements, monitored signalling conditions and sometimes stipulations about physical protection that sit outside the alarm system entirely.

Send us the policy wording or the surveyor report before we design. It is considerably cheaper than installing a system, discovering it does not satisfy the condition, and doing remedial work under time pressure.
