Offices & Workspace
Fire detection, access control and CCTV for office occupiers, landlords and managing agents across London, delivered around a working building.
The Requirement
Office security is rarely about keeping a determined intruder out overnight. It is about controlling movement inside the building during the day: who can reach which floor, which meeting rooms and stores are restricted, how visitors and contractors are handled at reception, and whether you can answer the question of who was where when something goes missing or a grievance is raised.
Most London office work is tenant fit out inside a managed building, which means designing to interface with landlord infrastructure rather than starting fresh. The base build fire system already exists, the escape strategy is fixed, and any Cat B detection you add has to extend that design coherently with cause and effect agreed and witnessed. Get that wrong and you either fail at commissioning or, worse, pass and leave a life safety gap nobody notices.
Churn is the other constant. Floors change hands, teams reorganise, people join and leave weekly. A system that requires an engineer visit every time someone needs a new permission is a system that will be worked around within a month, usually by propping a door open.
Recommended Stack
Addressable Cat B detection extended from base build, interfaced for door release and phased evacuation where the building operates that way.
Floor entries, comms rooms, stores and restricted suites on separate permission levels, administered by your own team rather than by callout.
Reception handling that issues temporary credentials, logs arrivals and expires access automatically, without creating a queue at nine in the morning.
Coverage at entrances, lift lobbies, goods access and server rooms. Cameras over desks are rarely justifiable and almost always create more problems than they solve.
Worth Knowing
CCTV and access logs covering your own employees carry employment and data protection implications that go beyond installing the kit. Staff need to know what is recorded and why, monitoring has to be proportionate to a genuine purpose, and access logs used for performance or disciplinary purposes invite challenge if the original justification was security.
We will design a system that gives you what you need and flag where a proposed camera position or logging arrangement is likely to cause you difficulty. For anything contentious, take proper HR and legal advice before it goes in rather than after a complaint.
